Guam

So we arrived back in Seoul Monday morning at 7am (it was a 3:30 am flight); needless to say we were so tired when we got back. However the trip was totally worth it! We arrived Wednesday morning around 3am and then slept for a while. We woke up and had the day to do whatever we wanted. We spent most of the afternoon by the pool; there was 2 big slides and 3 little ones, water polo, water volleyball, water basketball, all sorts of balancing games in the pool (I have pictures below to help you get a better idea). Tim played with the boys while I took pictures-the unofficial photographer :). Other things around the resort that we enjoyed all week included: pool, beach, snorkeling, putt-putt, tennis, bad mitten, ping pong, American TV, etc. Needless to say we never got bored.

We spent at least 4 hours by the pool every day (Wednesday-Sunday). The boys raced Friday morning and Saturday morning. They began around 6am and were done by 8am, so we still had the entire day to have some fun! They raced well, it was a different coarse than they are used to(most of it was on grass rather than urban streets). Both races were right by the beach, and on the second day the race actually finished on the beach. The first day or running was a typical cross country meet. The second day however was a relay. Boys paired up with girls 1 to 1. The girls ran 1.4 miles, then the boys, then the girls, and then the boys one last time (a relay). Since our girls team didn't go our boys, along with another boys team, competed the first race day,Friday, to see who would be paired up with the girls on Saturday. The fastest boy was with the fastest girl, etc. All of our guys were able to get a partner to run with. It was hilarious however because they were so shy they would hardly talk to the girls. When around just the team, the boys would brag, and say they were going to do this or say that to the girls, however they were ALL TALK, very different from most high school boys I know. After both races, on Saturday night there was a banquet. They made a slide show of pictures from the meets, handed out awards (top 15 individual runners, and top 3 teams); unfortunately our boys didn't get any awards, but they had fun! There was a buffet and traditional island dancers for entertainment.

On Sunday there was a cookout at a local park that the Guam teams put on (there were a total of 5 Guam teams). It was good fellowship for the teams! Then that afternoon we headed to the mall. Tim and I walked around for a while, he ended up buying a pair of pants and some shoes. There was a local grocery story connected to the mall so we decided to check it out. We ended up buying a lot more than we intended.

While in Guam we also got to shop at Kmart, it was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I believe I went there 3 times, buying a little more each time. It was great though. We came back with boxes of cake mix, brownie mix, cookie mixes; a couple of different seasonings, including Vanilla extract and Lemon Pepper our favorite; sox, undershirts, make-up, measuring spoons, cheese grater, mouth wash, face wash, pop-tarts, taco seasoning, gum, coffee, fruit punch mix, etc. You should have seen us shopping, we got so excited when we saw all of these things!

Anyways we had a wonderful trip! Who would have thought we we would get such an experience working as missionaries/teachers?!
