Tim and I have been attending Covenant Church in Sincheon since October 2009. On Thursdays we attend a Bible Study put on by the Church. However, we meet with our study group/small group 3 out of 4 Thursdays. On the other Thursday all of the small groups (there are 4 total) meet and do something fun; in the past it has been, bowling, ice skating, etc. This past week we joined the groups at a Coffee shop that is owned by 2 Korean members. They are boyfriend and girlfriend and are non-believers, however they have attended the Church several times. So, all groups joined at their shop for some games, coffee, dessert, and fellowship. We had an awesome time!
Tim spent his night learning to play a traditional Korean card game with several of the men in the church. I spent the evening playing Taboo with 5 of the girls. However, my experience was not your typical Taboo game. I hadn't realized until that night just how unique our experience in Seoul is. Out of the six girls we were all from 3 different cultures, 2 Americans, 2 Canadians, and 2 Koreans. It was interesting to hear how we each described different words. For example one of the words was Governor. A Canadian said something like ' someone who is over a large group of people'. When she finished she looked at me and asked, " what does the Governor really do?"- I didn't realize that they did not study American History growing up. It is things like this that really show how God can bring people together from so many different places and that no matter where we are from we can still all join together to worship Him!
