Bali was wonderful. Considering we left Seoul in 40 degree weather and arrived to beautiful Bali in the 80s, we loved every minute of it! ... well except the flights. Both flights were delayed close to an hour; our returning flight was red-eye, during which neither of us got much sleep... needless to say we took a long nap when we returned to our house.
Since we spent 5 days in Bali, and took over 1,000 pictures, I am going to tell of our trip in a series of posts; one for each day. Also, I cannot claim all of the great photography. Tim had spent some time on the trip learning to use the camera set on Manual, and took some really good photos. I am also posting the pictures small, so I can get more in... if you want to see them larger, you should be able to just click on them. Anyways, here we go........
Arrival:
We had a direct 7 hour flight from Seoul to Bali and arrived with a hotel shuttle waiting on us. We went straight to the Ramada Resort in Nusa Dua and checked in.
Tim drinking his complementary drink upon arrival
That night we got a ride to a local restaurant and had Indonesian food for the first time... yumm! Afterwards we walked back to the hotel and wen to bed to get ready for a big next day!
The room.
Tim was thrilled about the robe in the room, he wore it every evening! ... He also did not have sandals, we were planning on buying him some when we arrived. So, when he needed to go down to the lobby, he put on the slippers.
DAY 1:
We slept in, which was great!.. then we went down to breakfast, and walked around the hotel to see what the pool and things were like. We decided to spend the morning at the beach at the hotel (well it was actually across the street). The beach at the hotel is considered the "water sports beach"....

Around 1:00 we took the free bus from the hotel to Geger Beach... Geger was a small quiet beach that has a reef about 1 km from shore, and in the late afternoon the tide goes out and the locals harvest seaweed. We spent the afternoon there...
This wild dog decided to plot down next to me for a good portion of the afternoon. Tim then paid a local kid, trying to sell things, to get rid of the dog... such a nice husband.
There was a temple on top of a cliff right at the beach
A guy going out to surf
Random cows were at the beach... The island is Hindu, and Hindus think cows are sacred....
*Side note, Bali is the only island in the string of islands of Indonesia that is Hindu.. the rest are Muslim
The tide going out and harvesters are beginning their work
That evening we went out to dinner near the hotel. This time I had a local steak... which was gross... and Tim had a seafood platter, which he said was good, but didn't fill him up.
On the way to the restaurant.
We stopped at a small shop to get Tim some flip flops
After dinner we headed back to the hotel, watched some tv, and went to bed. We had a good first day.
So beautiful! I love the pictures! Except for the one laying flat on your back on the bed. You are nearly too pregnant to be laying flat--you need to start tilting! (Sorry, L&D nurse mode kicking in...)
