We felt rather traditional for our day of Thanksgiving. I prepared all but 4 of the dishes of our meal. I began cooking around 1 and finished around 6:30. As I cooked Timmy ran to the grocery store and make Egg nog, but really spent most of his time watching American football!
Everything turned out great, except the homemade rolls because the yeast didn't rise :(, but that's okay. Our menu was as follows :
Chicken stuffed with rice-from a local vender
Stuffing- made by Mrs. Parrish who lives below us
Deviled eggs
Green beans
Mashed potatoes
Sweet Potato Casserole
Baked beans
Sweet tea
Country gravy
Corn casserole
Banana bread
Pumpkin pie-made by Costco
Apple pie- made by Lindsey
Lemon icebox pie
Eggnog-made by Timmy
It was all SO delicious. However everything tasted just slightly different than what we are used to,but we did not mind. (For example, the sweet potatoes here are more yellow in color and taste just slightly different; we didn't have ingredients for typical brown gravy, so instead I made country gravy [white] but no one cared!) After we ate the girls cleaned up as the boys watched tv (as shown below; timmy is making coffee).
We had plenty left over so on Sunday we ate it for lunch! It was just a yummy the second time around.
Val stayed with us Friday night, so on Saturday we woke up and Timmy made us bacon and eggs. Then we went shopping for Christmas presents (not exactly like Black Friday... thank goodness). Saturday evening we went to a fun restaurant/microbrewery called Castle Praha. We have been there before, but wanted to show Val. The building literally is a castle, they decorated it, in and out! The area we ate in felt like we were down in a dungeon or something.
Anyways we had a great holiday weekend!
See you in 3 weeks!!!
