8lbs 9oz
21 inches
Scarlett was born on Tuesday evening, US time. Here in Korea it was Wednesday morning. I came into work on Wednesday to find I had 3 emails about Courtney. My mom and Kurt both informing me that she was in the hospital, and had been induced. They were just waiting on Scarlett to come. I decided to turn on my iPod touch and carry it around with me all day so I could check emails to see when Scarlett arrived. I checked it about every minute, not joke! I was so anxious all morning. Then it came.... Scarlett Elise is here!!!! And my reaction....
my reaction to Scarlett arriving!
I was so excited!! I went and told everyone I could. I continued to check my email as I sat in a 3rd grade classroom working with a student. Next came an email from my sister! (crazy, I think she popped out Scarlett and then said hand me my phone (: ha!).... her words were....
"She's 8 lbs 9 oz!!! 21 inches! Big girl! She's a calm baby, already sucking her fingers. She looks like YOU!"
Wow, Courtney, could you make it any harder to be away?! When I read this email I began to tear up... and yes I was still in the classroom working at this time. It was such a strange mix of emotions; I was thrilled that Scarlett was born, but I was sad that I could not be with her. I spent the rest of the day bragging to everyone I could about the new addition to the family!
I could not be happier for my sister and brother-in-law, Courtney and Kurt! So far Scarlett is doing great! Momma, Courtney, is doing good as well! I have gotten to talk to Courtney and it is very hard not to be there with her during this time.
To Courtney and Kurt: I love you and am very sad that I cannot be with you to celebrate such a joyous occasion. You are continually in my prayers. I am praying that God will provide Courtney with a speedy and healthy recovery, that Scarlett will remain healthy, and that Courtney and Kurt will have guidance in raising Scarlett! Tim and I love you and miss you; we hope to see you at Christmas time!!
Congrats to Courtney and Kurt!!!!!!!
oh... 이모 (imo) means aunt in Korean :)
